And so commenced a trip of capital-hopping โ from Montevideo we flew over to Santiago, Chile, then flew up to Lima, Peru for an hour-and-a-half layover where we let some people off and invited new passengers on our plane. There is a curious law that prohibits one from taking their own water onto the plane since we were headed to the U.S., so after being served my 20th mini-cup of water, I consciously decided to ignore that parched feeling in my throat and try to get some shut-eye. When I awoke, we were back in U.S. territory, and soon the sprawling metropolis of Los Angeles (not a capital, but arguably the #1 most mistaken guess for California’s capital) stretched off to our right. After about fourteen months out of the country, we were back in the U S of A!
I was pleased to see the engines were Rolls Royce because along with luxury, they’re known for the quality, right? Julien took it upon himself to inform me that all the Boeing 787s (plane we were on) had been recalled for these very engines.
