With just two days left of our Nicaragua visa, making a stop in the popular surf town of San Juan del Sur was the furthest thing from our minds. We could go from Granada straight through to Costa Rica, be back to zero on the visa count and be tranquilly on our way. Then we […]
October 6-9, 2015 Nos derniers magnifiques couchers de soleil au Nicaragua, dans la baie de San Juan del Sur, avant de continuer notre route vers le sud. Our last magnificent sunsets in Nicaragua, in the bay of San Juan del Sur, before heading south.
The rest of our time in Granada we spent enjoying the city, relaxing, taking multiple cool-down shower-rinses per day to combat the 90-degree plus weather, and working at an amazing restaurant/café. If you find yourself in Granada, Nicaragua, do not miss The Garden Café; we originally came for the coffee and fast wifi, but returned […]
Another nice day-trip from Granada is to the beautiful Laguna de Apoyo. The lagoon is one of those volano-collapsed-then-filled-with-rainwater type phenomenon. We went to a lookout to see the lagoon and the surrounding Pueblas Blancas, “White Towns” which were not white, but rather pretty, small communities near the lake. Lychees in Nicaragua look furry The […]
A nice day-trip from Granada is a visit to the Masaya volano. Most people visit the Nindiri cone, Santiago crater being the impressive one constantly spewing sulfur clouds into the air. The Masaya cone is just next door and, good on us, we visited both. Click here for a recap of our trip to Masaya […]
September 29, 2015 Visite de la caldeira de Masaya proche de Granada au Nicaragua. Après avoir jeté un oeil dans le cratère fumant de Santiago nous sommes partis randonner autour du cratère verduré de San Fernando. Visit of the Masaya Caldera nearby Granada, Nicaragua. After peering into the smoking Santiago crater we went for a […]
We headed south to Granada and arrived still reeling from a serious bus-fare ripoff that resulted in being overcharged about $4. Once we arrived in Granada, however, we couldn’t stay upset for long; a more grand and perhaps bourgeois version of León and at least 5°F cooler, we were won over immediately. The sunset that […]
At some point in our border crossings the previous day, we were sternly reminded that our CA-4 visa (the tourist visa that allows you to stay in Guatemala/Honduras/El Salvador/Nicaragua for a total of 90 days) was to run out in two weeks time and that we best exit Nicaragua before it ran out. This gave […]
September 26-27, 2015 Tempête de ciel bleu au Musée de la Révolution de León, Nicaragua. Storm of blue skies at the Museum of Revolution of León, Nicaragua.
