The price was right, so we decided to skip winding through the Andes and instead opted to fly over them to Loja, southern Ecuador. Lucy’s sister graciously agreed to host us a few days, and we enjoyed spectacular weather, innumerable churches and artisanal beers.

We took an overnight bus from Loja, Ecuador to Piura, Perú. Boarder crossing took place at 3:30 in the morning, and as we looked back at the “Welcome to Ecuador” sign, we said our goodbyes. Adios Ecuador!
