Au revoir Paris!

After living in Paris on and off for nine years….we are moving! But before we get into it, let’s take a moment to soak in those stellar views of Opéra and the Eiffel Tower from atop the Galeries Lafayette.

Those November sunsets were. to. metro. for.

…and because I love change and get a bit antsy staying in one place for a long time, this is good news indeed. For years I have been telling Julien that I can’t wait to look back fondly at our time in Paris, the struggles of living in an expensive, frustrating, rain-magnet of a city existing as nothing more than forgettable details of the decade we have spent here. My favorite thing about living in Paris is all the visitors the city attracts, especially the friends and family that have made the trip and toured with us, biked with us, drank, ate, and picnicked with us, and brought so much joy with their company. Over the years, we have hosted 30 + guests: friends from college and friends from high school; friends from study abroad and friends we made on our travels; family friends as well as family of friends; and even one family member (my dad!). Our apartments have always been humble but welcoming, and we’ll never forget discovering the city over and over again through the new eyes of excited visitors.

So where are we headed?

LYON, FRANCE… BOOK YOUR TICKETS PEOPLE!

Lyon, France: the third largest city of France, gastronomy capital of the country, and idyllically located in the east-central part of la France. Close to the Alps and not far from the Mediterranean, Lyon is known for warmer weather, bluer skies, and a slower pace of life than The City of Lights. Julien was transferred to Lyon for work, starting date May 2. In the next few weeks we will start apartment hunting and sometime in April, belongings and cat in tow, head south.

Here is a little clip from the last time we were in Lyon, in December 2016. We were on a Ferris wheel on the main square:

Anne: “Croix-Rousse is the one…?” (POTENTIAL FUTURE NEIGHBORHOOD!!!)

Julien: “It’s…over there.”

The view that accompanies Julien’s worried “Are we stopped?” shows the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière, and Lyon’s own Eiffel Tower, a lowly radio tower, the Tour métallique de Fourvière.

We hope to see y’all soon!
